Again with IUPAC name

In one of quite crowded mailing list of computational chemistry related subject, one of the topics talked about the software to give a name to the specific molecule following IUPAC rules. It is important since when you find a molecule and you want to publish it, you have to put a correct name written in your manuscript. Here, taken from all the replies of the question, I put all those possible softwares that you can use. Interesting since I never know it before:

1. ChemOffice (http://www.cambridgesoft.com/software/ChemOffice/) . There are many embeded programs in ChemOffice which probably you can be applicable. Anyway, it is not free program.

2. ACD/Name (http://www.acdlabs.com/products/name_lab/name/). It is mentioned as Most accurate and versatile nomenclature software on the market. Also, not available as free software. Anyway, you can browse this website because there are many offered software (freeware) that probably also useful to search the IUPAC name.

3. From OpenEye (http://www.eyesopen.com) consists of lexichem (to convert structure to IUPAC name) and ogham (convert IUPAC name to the structure). There is request evaluation license which you can use to try the software.

4. Autonom 2000 (http://www.mdl.com/products/framework/autonom/index.jsp). This software comes from Elsevier MDL which can be downloaded in evaluation periode. Autonom 2000 is only add in program, so it requires the main program to be embedded.

5. ChemAxon’s IUPAC name generator (http://www.chemaxon.com/marvin/doc/user/iupacnaming.html). It is embedded on Marvin program. Please go to website to know how to install since it looks free for non-commercial and academic usage. This program is under development which probably did not cover all of the molecules yet.

All of above softwares are very useful especially if it is offering direct automatic conversion. Naming the molecule using symbol, for example: SMILE and SMART, is also possible but requires a lot of time.
